The Fault in Our Stars by emmilinne The Fault in Our Stars by emmilinne
"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars
But in ourselves"
Shakespeare - Julius Caesar

Jumping on the bandwagon here.

I read all of John Green's books early on in highschool and I remember staying up super late to finish tfios when it came out and looking like complete crap the next day because I cried so much.

While I love many of his novels for the humor, I don't feel that they are as life changing and insightful as they are made to be.  Suffice to say, I really do love The Fault in Our Stars.  I guess the movie is what finally gave me the urge to draw it.

That is so cute, I am in serious danger of fan-girling.
I mean... Grr! Manly thoughts. Lifting weights, shooting guns, muscle cars, barbecue, attractive women, kung-fu movies.

...

...

...

... are they gone?

On a separate note, here's one way John Green's books did change my life:
I used to think that the kind of books I sometimes call "teen romances set in every-day, earth-as-we-know-it" were inherently and by necessity uninteresting.

Having read his books, I now see that such stories are only most often uninteresting, and that even that statement is a matter of my personal perspective and not a definitive and universal law. Sometimes they can even be exciting, intelligent, and charmingly humorous.
I usually read and write fantasy, science fiction, and other creative world settings. But now I have extended my horizons, and I read and write in many other genres, as well.

If that's not "life changing", I'm not sure what is.

But then again, no book can change everyone's lives.

Wait, I think they're coming back.

Oh, darling, don't do this to me. I'm already going to cry when I see the movie tomorrow (alone), I don't need to start now. *curls up in a ball of "okay" feels*
